The blooms are the part of the Compositae family having such common relatives as chrysanthemums, cornflowers, asters and zinnias. The flower look likes a bottlebrush. Its leaves come in dark green and grass- like colors borne on the woody stems. Unlike the majority of plants, opening from the bottom to the top of the spike, liatris’ blooms open and mature from the top of the stem downward. The flower’s meaning is “I will try again.”
This attractive and uncommon flower is available at any season of the year. Liatris come in a vast range of colors and shades of purple, lavender, pink, rose, white, bluish and violet.
The cut blooms enjoy the vase life for 14 days with proper care and handling.
Liatris is frequently used in modern floral designs being beautiful additions to them. The flower dries very well and may be used in dried floral arrangements as well. Is suitable for drying but a sealant should be used.
